Lovely weather today...
Seriously...not kidding at all...it actually felt like Spring for the first time since I've arrived here.
Thought I'd share a bit more about the people in this blog entry. I went to the bank for my parents and the teller and several people knew who I was ( I guess the fact that I look like a younger version of my mother is a huge factor), and they all said welcome back. alady even stopped me on the street and introduced herself to me, and welcomed ne back...so I guess there are some incredibly nice people here too. I know the people who are friends with the family are the best, as they are always willing to help out. I find it interesting, however, that bartering is common here. And it's a great system. I feel a little pissed at the powers that be, that could do so much to revitalize this community, but just decide to sit on their fat padded seats doing nothing. Failed promises. Geez, sounds like the clown in the federal government, eh?
Occasionally they have town meetings, and I do plan on gouing to it, just to see what it's all about. This place is important to my parents, so it's survival is also important to me.
Other interesting notes about this place...it's so small that some small buisinesses like Century 21 and Greyhound is operated out of peoples homes. And I tried to get a webcam today, but this town has none.Wow. So I'll have to go to Marathon (I think it's about an hours drive from here) to pick it up.
More thoughts and observations tomorrow. Until then..keep on Bloggin!
