Hello again!
Bet you thought I wouldn't write any more posts. Well, I moved...still settling in to this place. It's quite the adjustment, moving from a city of 70,000 to a town that has approximately 1500 people. Yup. I think what's hard is the lack of anonymity here, as others who've lived in small towns will attest. However, there are some super nice people here, although I don't venture out too much. Last time I was here to live was in 1996, and to put it bluntly, you couldn't take a shit without someone knowing all the particulars. That was when the town was twice the size it is now. Life is slower here...not everyone is in a rush to go someplace, as there's not much to go to. For those who have a penchant for alcoholic beverages, there's a couple of watering holes, butI don't go to those. Humor is different here too. It almost sounds like the joke is underlined with a hint of sarcasm and contempt for the recipient. I can see where that comes from. The town is in a decline, with people like the mayor running it who I've heard been described at best as somewhat of a goofball and a clown, as he's done nothing to revitalize the community. Manitouwadge is a mining community, but the mines are starting to close down. I think they mainly mine for gold, but those reserves are being depleted and so, with no work, the only options for many here is to go on welfare, Employment Insurance, or cut thir losses and move away. At any rate, the countryside is beautiful...there's a lake in the middle of town, and today, armed with a disposable camera, I went and took a few snapshots at various points. When the ice and snow finally melts (I was told sometime in May), I will go to those same points and take some more photos. There was a bit of a brisk wind, borderlining as chilly, but I had a good walk.
The cool air felt good, and I needed the exercise badly. I hadn't been for a walk here until today and was feeling like a bit of a shut-in.
All in all, this place has it's characters, which I could write about. The older people are more into the gossip I think, as I mainly hear it from them. Stuff that shouldn't be said, but that's what they're used to. People don't dress up here....just about everyone wears jeans T-shirt and hiking shoes. If you dressed up where would you go? I'm trying to find the time to write thoughts, observations, about people and places, but I'm always having to do something else. I try to read for a few minutes, and am interrupted. If I was to write in a place other than my bedroom, people would want to know what I'm writing about. When I write, I need peace and quiet for starters, and I never show my work to anyone in the beginning stages. I get upset if someone tries to read my thoughts without my permission, as I am highly critical of my work, and I basically don't need the aggravation. So I guess for now, I can type some of these thoughts to you, my Blogger pals, and at least I'll have a bit of an archive in which to record these thoughts.
Hmmm....Blogger question? Let's make it 2, shall we? First one is...anyone still popping by? My apologies to friends in Blogland for not typing sooner. And 2: What did you do today that you found enjoyable? Okay...one rule...keep it clean ok?
I think this is enough for one day so I will Blog ya all later...see ya!

Hi stranger, I still pop by! You know, I've missed seeing you around. Makes it kinda lonely, but I'll live. It's good to hear that you've settled into life once again. You know you're going to have to run for mayor and kick the clown out of office. I bet there will be a whole lot of people who would support you. So on for question number 2...well you wanted me to keep it clean.
I'll see you later!
I will always pop by my dearest Stranger. Since you asked what was most enjoyable today, I can keep it clean...good thing you didn't ask me about my weekend though!! LOL...most enjoyable thing today was reading your blog. Missing you Babe!
I'm still popping by! The most enjoyable thing that has happened to me in the past couple of days would be that I was in a play with my middle school drama club.
